🌟 Anti-Fragility: The Proactive Path to Resilience 🌟
In recent years, the buzzword has been "resilience." But let's take a step beyond mere resilience and venture into the realm of "anti-fragility." These concepts may appear similar, but the distinction lies in their approach: one is reactive, while the other is proactive.
Resilience is our ability to bounce back from adversity, a necessary response to life's challenges. Anti-fragility, on the other hand, is an intentional and proactive approach. It's about creating disruption, embracing randomness, welcoming uncertainty, fostering self-discovery, and diving headfirst into the mess of life.
Anti-fragility thrives on the unknown, turning up when least expected and unearthing uncharted possibilities and experiences.
To embark on the journey of becoming anti-fragile, there are deliberate steps to consider:
👬 Create a Wide Range of Friends: Diversify your social network to gather different perspectives, experiences, and support when you need it.
💸 Generate Multiple Sources of Income: Relying on a single income source can make you vulnerable. Cultivate several income streams to safeguard your financial stability.
📚 Build on Extensive Intellectual Interests: Expand your knowledge and curiosity in various subjects. Intellectual diversity equips you with valuable insights.
👥 Connect with Teams and Groups: Collaborate with diverse teams and groups to harness collective wisdom and creativity.
🏦 Spread Financial Risks: Don't put all your financial eggs in one basket. Distribute your investments and take calculated, small financial risks.
🎥 Explore New Experiences: Frequent exhibitions, shows, events, galleries, concerts, fairs, and the cinema to broaden your horizons and stimulate creativity.
Life has a knack for zigging when everyone else is zagging. Anti-fragility is your proactive defence against the unexpected twists and turns that come your way. By cultivating this approach, you'll be better equipped to not only weather the storms but also thrive in the chaos of life.
In a world where change is the only constant, embracing anti-fragility is a powerful choice, helping you adapt, learn, and grow in the face of uncertainty. So, why settle for resilience when you can soar with anti-fragility? 🚀

We've all been to a workshop where the icebreaker is to divide into groups and create the highest tower possible using spaghetti, string and tape, within a set time limit.
The finished tower had to have the supplied marshmallow on top.
If you haven't had that experience, you haven't been to more than two workshops.
Interestingly, the same exercise was conducted with a few groups of student engineers, AND a few groups of pre-schoolers.
The engineers applied their project and negotiation skills to get the job done and were also in a competitive atmosphere pitting their planning and construction skills against other student engineer teams in the same room.
This exercise was repeated at three different tertiary institutions.
The pre-schoolers did something similar - in three different locations and in a room with other teams doing the same task.
The ones that created the tallest structure? - it was the pre-schoolers. On average, they were two feet taller than the engineer groups.
How come?
The pre-schoolers just tried stuff.
They didn't do the status dance of 'Who's in charge?', 'Should I listen to that idea?', 'I won't say anything in case they get upset.'
They just got the job done, without negotiation.
They felt safe with each other - no one's ego was at risk.
That's how teams work well together.
Each member feels safe with each other member.
