“There are no traffic jams on the extra mile.” - Zig Ziglar
Finding Green in a Sea of Red
My drive to work has 36 traffic intersections, all with traffic lights. I’ve counted them all.
Of course, traffic lights are necessary. I’ve seen what happens when they don’t work. It’s a mess.
For some people, the red lights stand out. The green lights don't even register.
For others, the green lights are front of mind. They sail through them with a smile. And they regard red lights differently. For these people, the red light is a chance to look around, change the radio station, or even (illegally) swap out a podcast episode.

It's a bit like work, isn't it?
Some people only see problems all day and either complain about them OR spend much of their time working out how to avoid them.
Others accept that a stop light will pass and turn green at some stage. These people are patient, know how to occupy their ‘meantime’ time and accept things will improve.
Difficulties are all about how we react to them. They can ruin your day ....... or just be part of your day.
Think about that, next time you stop at a traffic light.
Check your response. Do you need to make an adjustment?
A Sweet Story
While we’re talking about traffic and driving metaphors, here’s a sweet memory from my childhood.
Whenever my grandfather needed to refuel his car, it was done on a special trip to the service station. None of this filling up on the way to anywhere - it was an errand in itself.
Even more unusual, my grandmother always used to go with him, just for the trip. There and back.
